Hello friend! I hope you’re having a splendid day. I just got back from 4 hours of meditation and yoga and I’m feeling simultaneously buoyant and grounded, excited and chilled out so I decided to channel that paradoxical energy and write myself a little Sunday night blog post. Truthfully, it will likely go up tomorrow when I have time to take some nice pictures.

Anyhoo, you may remember a few weeks back I posted a photo of my delicious Matcha Latte on Instagram. Well since then it has become a daily staple in my life and I’ve actually somehow ended up making it even healthier for me and my hormones.

How, pray tell, did I manage this? Well I added some maca to my blend and let me tell you, if my morning doesn’t include at least one Maca Matcha Latte, I feel off for the rest of the day.

It’s become as important a part of my morning routine as brushing my teeth and having a good BM. Anyhoo, this delicious little bugger has tons of sweet nutritional benefits thanks to all the stellar ingredients it contains. Check, check, check, check it out!


Aw you’ve seen this little root vegetable around here before, haven’t you? I think he was part of a delicious Chocolate Coconut Butter Cup recipe I posted a little while ago.

Anyhoo, I like including this food, in its powdered form, in my latte because it has a nourishing and modulating effect on the endocrine system through its action on the hypothalamus and pituitary glands.

These guys are basically the bosses of the whole endocrine system, so if they’re functioning optimally, it can help ensure all the other glands down the line are receiving the proper signals on how they should be functioning as well.


The other day after exclaiming for the millionth time how much I love my maca matcha lattes my brother finally asked me “What the hell is matcha?” Well folks, matcha is a type of green tea.

Technically it’s stoneground tea leaves that then become a bright green powder. Unlike traditional green tea where you brew your cup of tea then discard the leaves and the many antioxidants and nutrients still inside of them, when drinking matcha you end up consuming the whole leaf and all its health benefits!

Matcha contains tons of super potent antioxidants and some great amino acids one of which, L-theanine, can help calm the mind and reduce anxiety. Studies have also shown that this tea can help boost metabolism and increase fat burning. Not too shabby for a morning pick me up!

Coconut Milk

Typing up the health benefits of coconut once again has made me realize that I create very few recipes that don’t contain at least some iteration of coconut. Hello, world my name is Caitlin and I’m addicted to coconut. But can you really blame me? This fruit (yep! Coconut is in fact a fruit. A drupe to be precise, which is a fruit with a hard stone covering) has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties thanks to its caprylic acid content.

They also contain medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), a type of fat that provides energy for the liver and which increase the beta-oxidation of stored fat, to help you maintain your svelte figure and yoga bums 😉

Now that you’ve been introduced to some of the primary ingredients, onto the recipe!

Life-Changing Dairy-Free Maca Matcha Latte

• 1 tsp. maca
• ½- 1 tsp. matcha tea
• ¼- ½ cup coconut milk, depending on creaminess preference
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• ½ tbsp. honey
• 1 cup boiled water

1. Combine maca, matcha, coconut milk, and vanilla in a mug.
2. Stir together until ingredients form a paste and there are few, if any, chunks of unincorporated maca or matcha.
3. Pour boiled water over the paste and stir.
4. Add honey to taste.
5. Enjoy! And try not to drink more than 3 a day 😉

Well there ya go friend! My delicious, nourishing, and super addictive maca matcha latte. Now, I’ve actually never drunk coffee, but this bad boy should give you the energy surge you need in the morning thanks to the metabolism boosting effects of the ingredients, without acidifying your body.
