Hello friend! As I’m sure you already know, I love to share all the little tips and tricks that I incorporate into my daily life to help me be more productive, energized, healthy, and happy.
So today I thought I would share with you my little morning ritual that I do every day to help start myself off from a place of calm focused balance. In the last year I have started sleeping with my phone on airplane mode because I was finding that when I woke up to a million text messages, Facebook notifications, emails, Snapchats, and Instagram messages I was starting my day stressed out before I even got out of bed.
Now, every morning, before I turn on my cell phone or laptop, I listen to a short guided meditation to set my intentions for the day. I don’t even get out of bed, I just set myself up comfortably and pick out the meditation I want to listen to that morning.
Afterwards I do 15-20 minutes of simple yoga to work out any kinks and get my heart rate going a little bit in preparation for the work day.
After my routine I pour myself a glass of homemade kombucha or switchel and take my probiotic before settling in with a healing elixir to write out the day’s to-dos and tackle my inbox.
I’ve found that over the last few months as I’ve carved out this space for myself first thing in the morning I’m much more productive, calm, and focused for the rest of the day. If you could do one thing differently in your morning to change the way you feel, what would it be? It doesn’t have to be anything big, fancy, or complicated. Small habit changes done over the long term can add up to HUGE results, health-wise!
A daily routine can really go a long way to help establish lasting healthy habits. To go along with this idea, I wanted to share some of the science behind establishing a healthy routine. The graphic from Elysium Health (see below) explores how small, daily changes can improve your metabolic health. If you look closely, the graphic even highlights a tip from yours truly 😉
Since you know I’m a huge geek for all things science, nutrition, and health I wanted to share a little more info all about healthy habits, gene expression, and metabolism. Check out these resources from Elysium for more info about the science behind metabolism.
As always, thank you for your love and support!
